News Corp, as may know, owns Fox, so the prospect of "Fox UK" is an unappealing one. The deal is far from done and quite controversial here.Al Shawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07179473485486839470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32796536.post-54169954603168574952011-01-08T15:39:34.082+00:002011-01-08T15:39:34.082+00:00Pseudo-intellectual! In the American context, such a statement would be hilarious.

We don't have television, but I'm a news addict. I listen to National Public Radio, BBC Worldservice, I read various sources and we watch Al-Jazeera and France 24 online.

When I visit someone's house and watch CNN, FOX, or any of the others....it really is a joke. It's more like tabloid news... sensationalist stuff, celebrities, and sordid crimes....we have lots of that in the states.

I think you're spot on in saying we need to promote alternative and independent media....but the Christians I know are the most resistant!

All foreign news is suspect. BBC is the only one that might be considered respectable.

I've come to realize it's not just cultural, it really is a moral issue. Their attitudes expose what's in their hearts.

We live in interesting times. I think the worst accusation made against someone who watches it is that the viewer has pseudo-intellectual tendencies!

I think that promoting alternative and independent media outlets is an important task, particularly in the US context.

Thanks for visiting.Al Shawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07179473485486839470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-32796536.post-30262841041233743692011-01-08T03:26:11.042+00:002011-01-08T03:26:11.042+00:00Hello,

Is that acceptable among Christians in the UK?

In the U.S., if you say you watched something on Al Jazeera, you're immediately suspected as a covert Al Qaeda operative.

Of course, even BBC is a little suspect.....kind of liberal (that means not always pro-USA)and not trustworthy.

Just curious if it's different there. The Evangelicals I interacted with didn't seem as provincial as Americans tend to be.

Cheers.Protoprotestanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18217567607160768261noreply@blogger.com
