Bye Bye Bombs

Sources close to the American military report that the United States has this week quietly removed its last remaining nuclear weapons from Great Britain.

Hans Kristensen of the Federation of American Scientists says that the weapons were previously located at RAF Lakenhall in Suffolk and had been stored there since 1954.

If true, this is cause for celebration and a victory of sorts for those who have sought to remove all nuclear weapons from British soil.

American nuclear weapons remain at Incirlik Air Base in Turkey and at Aviano in Italy.
