I've heard it twice this week - once on TV and once just now on the BBC web site.
In the latter, the reference was made to the former Star Trek George Takei (Sulu) who recently "married" his long term partner Brad Alman at a civil ceremony in Los Angeles.
For the record, could we please agree that the word marriage refers exclusively to the joining of a man and woman in a legal union? It is by definition a heterosexual arrangement, not to be confused with the term civil partnership which can be arranged between people of any gender and sexual orientation.
Don't take my word for it. Boy George (no less) has gone on record several times saying that marriage should be left to straights.
