U.S. intelligence collaboration with Omar Suleiman “most successful”
Image via Wikipedia
Useful background notes from Wikileaks on Omar Suleiman, Egypt's new vice-president, and therefore the man constitutionally next in line to take over if President Mubarak were to step down.
Key points include:
- Suleiman was trained early on in his career at the U.S. Special Warfare School at Fort Bragg
- Head of Egypt's spy agency
- Professional links with the CIA
- Fiercely opposed to the Muslim Brotherhood
Not an American puppet, but certainly an acceptable alternative to the US when Mubarak boards that plane for Jeddah.
