Investigating Britain's Drone Wars

Glad to see that Tom Watson MP Zac Goldsmith (Labour and Conservative respectively) are to lead a new All-Party Parliamentary Group on Drones in the UK.

Little attention has been paid to Britain's drone capability, nor to the legal and ethical issues such a capacity raises. It is rarely reported that UK-piloted drones, for instance, have carried out 319 attacks in Afghanistan since 2008. Nor that over £2 Billion has been spent on drones by the British government since 2007.

As Clive Stafford Smith, director of Reprieve, puts it: "We sleepwalked into a nuclear age, now we are sleepwalking into a drone age."

Drone Wars UK seems an excellent source of news, opinion and reports on the issue fro a UK perspective.
