What the Waters Reveal

The floods that are devastating Gloucestershire, Worcestershire and Oxfordshire are more than an inconvenience. They are a sign.

The facts and figures are incredible enough:
  • 10,000 cars stranded on the M5 last Thursday with the majority of passengers having to spend the night in their vehicles.
  • the RAF mounting their largest peace-time operation ever
  • Over 300,000 homes will be without water in Gloucestershire as a water treatment works is taken out of action by flood water
  • an estimated insurance bill of £2 Billion
If we were in any doubt about the reality of climate change, recent events are a shocking reminder. If we fail to draw the correct conclusions from these events, we will miss an opportunity.

If our response goes no further than "I must try and book a cheap flight somewhere hot", then one thing is certain: our children and grandchildren will be living in marshes.
